Participation at Hackupc 2025

Over the past weekend, the UPC-Siemens Energy ENIA chair for AI and Sustainability had the privilege of collaborating with Siemens Energy at HackUPC 2025, where nine teams participated in the challenge we designed for the event.
It was inspiring to see the variety of innovative approaches teams took in addressing the challenge. Congratulations to the FlowCore team (including Pol Llinàs) for winning our challenge, and to the Top Rack team (Iva Marinova, Kaloyan Miladinov, Nikola Sachkov, and Bozhidar Pavlov) for taking part in our challenge and earning 3rd place overall at HackUPC.
We would also like to give special recognition to the Datacenter-Decoder team (Guim Casadellà Cors, Pol Resina Martínez, Gerard Grau García, and Marc Herrero Lázaro) for securing 2nd place in the Siemens Energy challenge, and to the Rack Attack team for achieving 3rd place in the same category.
We extend our sincere thanks to Adrià Soldevila Coma, Carlos Andrés García Sánchez, Mayra Ramírez Chávez, Milad Sabamehr, and especially to Jerrad Hampton for representing Siemens Energy, delivering the workshop on power grids, grid reliability, and blackouts, and serving as a judge for the challenge.
We are also grateful to Cecilio Angulo for his mentorship, support, and role as a judge for both the Siemens Energy challenge and the overall event.
Special thanks to Elif Tezsezen and Oliver Pozo for their invaluable support, and to Pol Estany for facilitating our participation as a HackUPC organizer. Finally, we’d like to thank everyone else who contributed to making this event a success.
We truly enjoyed engaging with hundreds of talented and driven individuals, each bringing creative ideas to life through a wide range of software and hardware technologies. We’re excited about the opportunity to return in 2026!"
